Ana Ospina

Cello Faculty

Growing up in the city of Ibagué, Ana began her musical journey with the Colombian folk guitar at the age of nine. Later, she embraced the cello and, at thirteen, classical music.

Her aspiration to become a musician is founded on her desire to connect with audiences and communities that mutually experience the depths of human feelings and thoughts through sensory perception and art.

Ana is a multifaceted musician inspired to explore different musical paths throughout her career. Irish music, bluegrass, Brazilian, Latin American folk, and jazz are some of her current musical interests. Chamber music has been one of her greatest passions, leading her to be one of the founding artists of the Ámbar Collective, the Iris cello duo, and is an active orchestra performer in the Cambridge and Boston areas. Besides being an active performer, Ana is a dedicated teacher who believes that music education is an important element for community and personal development, and she is currently part of the cello faculty at the Boston String Academy in Boston.

Ana’s academic studies began at the Conservatory of Tolima, the University of Southern Mississippi, and William Carey University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in cello performance. In May 2024, she graduated from the Master of Music program in cello performance at Longy School of Music, where she was mentored by Christine Lamprea, a cellist awarded the Sphinx Medal of Excellence.
