Boston String Academy is accepting new students for all for the 2024-2025 academic year.


Register for 2024-2025 Academic Year:

For new beginning/rising intermediate students (0-4 years experience), please fill out our registration form for either the Chinatown Morning or Allston Afternoon programs. These groups are for the Petite and Prejunior Ensembles:

Audition Request for Advanced Students:

For intermediate/advanced students, please sign up to audition for our top two ensembles, the Junior Ensemble and the Youth Ensemble.

Registration Check List:

Here are the steps to finalize registration:

  1. Fill out the BSA Registration Form for your program of choice (links above).
  2. Create a Blackbaud Tuition Management Account. (One-time needed per family).
  3. Apply for Financial Aid (if applicable).
  4. Submit an Audition Video or request a Live Audition if applying for our top two ensembles, the Junior Ensemble and Youth Ensemble.

Tuition, Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition is paid once a month in equal monthly payments, or in two equal semester payments, for the academic year. Boston String Academy uses Blackbaud Tuition Management for families to make payments. In their Blackbaud account, families can choose the frequency of payments.

Every academic year, all enrolled students are charged a $50 Registration Fee per family.

New students are charged a One-Time Processing Fee of $50 per family.
*Earlybird registration can waive the one-time Processing Fee, if a new family completes all registration needs within two weeks of inquiry. Please email admin@bostonstringacademy.org for more information.

Tuition amounts vary by program. Please email admin@bostonstringacademy.org for more information. Families in need of financial assistance can apply for Financial Aid.

Financial Aid

We believe that all students should have access to a high quality music education, regardless of their families finances. BSA is proud to offer Financial Aid to families that qualify. No family will be turned away due to financial hardship. Please email admin@bostonstringacademy.org for more information.


Our Programs:

Chinatown morning program

Our Chinatown Morning Program meets every weekday from 8am-9am at BSA Music Center. At 9am, students are walked to Josiah Quincy Elementary School by BSA teachers.

Allston afternoon program

Our Allston Afternoon Program meets Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays after school at 42 Holton Street. Class times vary, but often start at 2:45pm or 4pm.

Chinatown afternoon program

Our Chinatown Afternoon Program is for intermediate and advanced students. This program meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.


Our Ensembles:

Petite Ensemble

Our Petite Ensemble is comprised of our beginning students, with their first years of study, as young as 5 years old. (Younger students accepted on a case by case basis). We offer these classes in our Chinatown Morning Program, and our Allston Afternoon Program.

Prejunior Ensemble

Our Prejunior Ensemble is comprised of rising intermediate students, usually with 3-4 years of playing experience. We offer these classes in our Chinatown Morning Program, and our Allston Afternoon Program.

Junior Ensemble

Our Junior Ensemble are intermediate/rising advanced players, usually with 4-6 years of playing experience. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at BSA Music Center from 4pm-5:30pm as part of our Chinatown Afternoon Program.

Students from this ensemble have performed on local tours to Nantucket, with collaborated with special artists through the Celebrity Series of Boston, and attended prestigious music festival, all through BSA. Prospective Junior Ensemble students can reach out to BSA to schedule an audition.

Youth Ensemble

Our Youth Ensemble is our most advanced ensemble, for students performing at a high technical and musical level, usually with 6-10 years of playing experience. Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday evenings at BSA Music Center from 5:30-7:30pm as part of our Chinatown Afternoon Program.

Students from this ensemble have performed on international tours, won auditions to perform in the infamous Carnegie Hall of New York, and attended prestigious music festivals, all through BSA. BSA graduating seniors have won auditions to music conservatories across the country. Prospective Youth Ensemble students can reach out to BSA to schedule an audition.
